Choosing the Right Sunscreen
You may have seen recent reports in the media about several popular sunscreen brands not meeting their advertised SPF protection levels. This has raised understandable concern, especially for Australians who rely on sunscreen daily to protect against our harsh UV rays and to reduce the risk of skin cancer.
At Ethique Plastic Surgery, we take sun protection seriously. Each year, we treat hundreds of patients who require surgery to remove skin cancers, so we know how important reliable sun protection really is.

We choose to stock and recommend two SPF 50 sunscreens from “The Skincare Company”, and both have undergone rigorous testing and delivered excellent results.
- Dry Touch SPF50 is TGA listed and manufactured in a TGA certified laboratory. That means it’s independently tested and verified to meet all Australian regulatory standards. This Dry Touch SPF50 Sunscreen is a highly protective, UVA & UVB broad spectrum lotion with 4 hours water resistance. Specifically formulated with a dry touch finish, this sunscreen has a smooth and silky texture when applied to the skin and doesn’t leave an oily residue on the hands post application. Best results are achieved when the formula is re-applied regularly without prolonged sun exposure.
- Daily Defence contains a tint, so it isn’t required to be registered with the TGA. However, it’s made in a GMP certified lab and every claim it makes—including SPF protection—is thoroughly tested and validated. Daily defence provides a luminous and lightweight sheer pearlescent finish, making this product a perfect daily routine addition for all skins, works well as a base under makeup. Designed to both nourish and hydrate your skin whilst also protecting it from environmental aggressors. With its lightweight formulation this luxurious skincare protector is a must-have in your anti-aging beauty skincare cabinet.
Both formulas provide broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays, helping prevent sunburn, premature ageing, and sun damage that can lead to skin cancers.
When it comes to sunscreen, not all products are the same. Choosing a TGA-approved, good quality, high protection sunscreen gives you confidence that your skin is getting the protection it deserves.
We have both products in stock, so please contact our rooms on (02) 8544 3270 or consult@ethiqueplasticusurgery.com.au to purchase your sun protection products. We are happy to advise on the best choice for your needs.
